Are all upgrade mobile phones locked to the network previously used?
Just to clarify, if a person used vodafone network and got a new upgrade phone would that be locked to vodafone?
I bought the handset from ebay and although the seller said it was unlocked I have just received it and notice that on the box says Vodafone.....
Most of the times the upgrade phone is locked. The old phone can be unlocked for free by phoning Vodafone Costomer Services (in UK, not sure about other countries). They will give out the unlock code for any phone locked on their network as long as you have passed the 12 Month mark of the contract (doesnt matter whether its 12 or 18 Months contract).
For Pay As You Go you can phone them anytime for the NUC (Network Unlock Code) - they might give it out withou hussle if you are lucky, otherwise keep pestering them.
